In-House Detoxification

We offer a programme of community-based, in-patient detoxification for both alcohol and drugs carried out in individual units. Each unit is a self-contained safe environment where continuous support is provided.

Any family members who may wish to accompany the patient in the initial treatment stages are welcome to stay in the individual units: we see it as a crucial part of the recovery process and all support is greatly encouraged.

Individual treatment programmes are prepared by our clinical team. Medication needs are modified on a daily basis and the evaluation of progress is ongoing: our level of commitment never wavers. From heroin and cocaine to amphetamine, GHB, ecstasy and cannabis, detoxification can be facilitated for a wide range of drugs.

Our Social Care Team will be on hand to provide training and motivational support.

Stage 1
Following acceptance onto the treatment programme, the initial stage lasts for 1 or 2 weeks following which, in cases of heroin dependence, the patient will have become drug-free and commenced the relapse prevention therapy. In cases of alcohol dependence the provision of relapse prevention medication will be reliant upon the results of the blood tests

Stage 2
During a further 2 weeks of aftercare, we will work together to enhance social skills and prepare the patient for continued support in their area of residence. Liaison will be undertaken by our service to establish a continuity of care and where possible the continued provision of relapse prevention medication.

Stage 3
A further extended stay of 4 weeks will be dependent upon individual needs and be subject to the continued assessment of need.
